WHAT THE HENDRICK SCHOLARSHIP FUNDSThe Hendrick scholarship pays for tuition, fees, and books, with annual maximum limits (stated below) to be used towards a 2 year or 4 year degree. In addition, since colleges students incur additional expenses such as transportation, housing, and supplies, we assist our students with applying for federal and state financial aid. Scholarship award annual maximum limits are:
The lifetime maximum award amount is $16,500. WHERE CAN THE SCHOLARSHIP BE USED?All new students start at Collin College. Upon successful graduation from Collin College, students may transfer to a public university in the state of Texas. (Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis.) WHAT ELSE HAPPENS IN THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM?Having access to college does not guarantee success in college. The Hendrick Foundation realizes that in order to graduate, students need ongoing guidance and encouragement throughout their time in college. We therefore stay in contact with our students throughout their college experience. Students are required to turn in class schedules at the beginning of each semester and their grades at the end of each semester. Transcripts are reviewed to ensure that students are choosing classes that apply towards their degree plan. Once in college, students must maintain a minimim GPA of 2.0. If a student drops below 2.0, s/he will be on probation for the following semester. If the student does not raise their GPA during that probationary semester, s/he will lose their scholarship. Hendrick attempts to provide mentors for every student. Students appreciate having someone who will offer moral support and encouragement. On occasion, students may need assistance with locating resources to help with needs such as housing, transportation, or medical care. In those situations, students can contact their mentors who in turn will refer them to resources. Hendrick students at Collin College have designated staff members who serve as their points of contact in areas such as advising, financial aid, and counseling. This ensures that the Hendrick students will have a set of staff members who are familiar with their backgrounds and the Hendrick program. Board members and mentors have a wide variety of professional backgrounds and can offer informal guidance and advice on career exploration and preparation to enter the workforce. © Copyright 2010 Hendrick Academy of Honor, Inc.
