Half Shells Seafood Grill Fundraiser

May 4, 2010: As part of their First Tuesday Benefit program, Half Shells will be donating 15% of all their day's proceeds to the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. We encourage everyone to come out to enjoy some great food and help us fund our scholarship program at the same time.

Location: Half Shells, 5800 Legacy Drive, Suite C-2, Plano.

Time: 11 am to 10 pm

Jim Boswell Scholarship

March 2010: The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation is deeply honored to establish the Jim Boswell Scholarship, named after Hendrick Board member Jim Boswell.

Mr.Boswell, often called "Mr.Plano", is the administrative director of physician services at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. Over many years, he has been tireless in the many ways that he has been committed to improving the lives of the residents of our community.

2010 Taste of Elegance Event

March 22, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, 2010 at the Southfork Ranch, Parker
For 2010, the annual fundraiser known simply as "The Event" will be adding a new twist! Along the lines of a "Taste of" type event, this year, guests will be treated to samples of cuisine from some of the best local fine dining restaurants.

The 2010 scholarship application form is now available at PISD senior high school counseling offices. Deadline is March 12, 2010.

Announcing the Jim Collins Memorial Scholarship

The Jim Collins Memorial Scholarship, established by the Collin County Republican Men's Club, will be administered by the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. Awardees of this scholarship will also receive mentoring and other support services.

Plano Rotary Golf Gournament to benefit the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation

Thanks to our community's generous sponsorship and participation, the tournament was a sold-out event! Players did not let the rain throw them off their determination to play through. Countless prizes and give-aways were handed out. An exciting live and silent auction were held at the awards banquet. Dr. Wayne Hendrick was announced as the Honorary Chairman of the Golf Tournment.

NEWS - June 2009

Hendrick Scholarship Foundation is participating in the Macy's Community Shopping Day Event on August 1, 10 am - 9 pm, which kicks off the opening of their new location in Fairviw (@ 75 and Stacey Road). Along with other nonprofit organizations, Hendrick is selling tickets to attend, at $5 per ticket. Hendrick will keep all the proceeds from the tickets that we sell. Shoppers will enjoy 10-25% percent discounts on regular price, sale, and clearance priced merchandise.

NEW NAME! As the Hendrick Academy of Honor has grown over the years and has become better known, the Board has discovered that the phrase "Academy" as part of the organization's name does not effectively describe the organization's purpose. The Board has therefore decided to rename the organization to more accurately reflect the nature of the mission; the new name is Hendrick Scholarship Foundation.

NEWS - January 2009

Hendrick's new Executive Director, Marcy Wilson, joined the organization in January 09. She brings many years of experience in a variety of fields, to include higher education, nonprofits, business, and government. She welcomes feedback and input from members of the community who may want to become involved, to create partnerships, to be sponsors, or just to offer suggestions and ideas. Students and/or school staff who have questions about the Hendick Scholarship program are welcome to contact her.

EVENTS

Our main fund raising event, "The Event," is on March 9, 2009. Please see the Fundraisers section for details of how you can participate. Ticket proceeds are used to fund the scholarships. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
