2012 Taste of Elegance Planning Committee Kick Off

Dec. 7, 2012 - Hosted at Coal Vines, Taste of Elegance Committee members gathered to celebrate the start of the planning for the 2012 Taste event. Known as "The Taste," this annual fundraiser is planned for March 26 at the Southfork Ranch in Parker. Hendrick joins the Plano Rotary Soap Box Derby

June 2011: The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation is one of the organizations that are participating in the Plano Rotary Soap Box Derby on June 4, 2011. Hendrick supporters may purchase raffle tickets to win a Royal Caribbean Mediterranean one week cruise scheduled for the summer of 2012! To purchase raffle tickets, call 972.423.2079 or email to info@hendrickscholarship.org. Proceeds from the raffle tickets purchased through Hendrick will fund our scholarships.

2011 Taste of Elegance Fundraiser

March 22, 2011: Over 300 guests enjoyed the unique opportunity to sample the cuisine of a dozen fine dining restaurants from the DFW area. W.T. Greer was the Master of Ceremonies and entertained the audience with his inspirational singing. The establishment of the Beckey Moffett Memorial Scholarship was announced.

Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for the Hendrick students.

Hendrick welcomes Lori Geer, the new Director of Development

February 2, 2011: Lori Geer joins the Hendrick family and is working with Marcy Wilson, Executive Director, to continue to grow community partnerships. Both are part time staff who are assisted by many dedicated community volunteers.

Hendrick Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament hosted by the Plano Rotary Club

September 14, 2010: The Plano Rotary Club hosted the annual Golf Tournament as a fundraiser for the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. Held at the Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club in Fairview, many golfers from around the DFW area spent the day, having fun and raising funds for a great cause.

City of Plano declares Hendrick Scholarship Foundation Day

September 14, 2010: Phil Dyer, Mayor of Plano, issued an official proclamation that September 14, 2010 was the "Hendrick Scholarship Foundation Day." The announcement was made by Lee Dunlap, Mayor Pro-Tem, on that date at the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament hosted by the Plano Rotary Club.

Half Shells Seafood Grill Fundraiser

May 4, 2010: As part of their First Tuesday Benefit program, Half Shells will be donating 15% of all their day's proceeds to the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. We encourage everyone to come out to enjoy some great food and help us fund our scholarship program at the same time.

Location: Half Shells, 5800 Legacy Drive, Suite C-2, Plano.

Time: 11 am to 10 pm

Jim Boswell Scholarship

March 2010: The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation is deeply honored to establish the Jim Boswell Scholarship, named after Hendrick Board member Jim Boswell.

Mr.Boswell, often called "Mr.Plano", is the administrative director of physician services at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. Over many years, he has been tireless in the many ways that he has been committed to improving the lives of the residents of our community.

For 2010, the annual fundraiser known simply as "The Event" will be adding a new twist! Along the lines of a "Taste of" type event, this year, guests will be treated to samples of cuisine from some of the best local fine dining restaurants.

NEWS - September 2009

The Jim Collins Memorial Scholarship, established by the Collin County Republican Men's Club, will be administered by the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. Awardees of this scholarship will also receive mentoring and other support services.

NEWS - September 14, 2009

Thanks to our community's generous sponsorship and participation, the tournament was a sold-out event! Players did not let the rain throw them off their determination to play through. Countless prizes and give-aways were handed out. An exciting live and silent auction were held at the awards banquet. Dr. Wayne Hendrick was announced as the Honorary Chairman of the Golf Tournment.

NEWS - February 2009

NEW NAME! As the Hendrick Academy of Honor has grown over the years and has become better known, the Board has discovered that the phrase "Academy" as part of the organization's name does not effectively describe the organization's purpose. The Board has therefore decided to rename the organization to more accurately reflect the nature of the mission; the new name is Hendrick Scholarship Foundation.

Hendrick's new Executive Director, Marcy Wilson, joined the organization in January 09. She brings many years of experience in a variety of fields, to include higher education, nonprofits, business, and government. She welcomes feedback and input from members of the community who may want to become involved, to create partnerships, to be sponsors, or just to offer suggestions and ideas.
