Hope Through Education

The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation (formerly named the Hendrick Academy of Honor), a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization, changes the lives of our community's neediest youth by enabling them to break out of the cycle of poverty through education. We provide college scholarships to students who persevered to overcome adversity in order to graduate from high school and who dream of going to college.

Their young lives have been focused on a daily struggle for survival - financially, spiritually, emotionally, and/or physically. While access to a college education doesn't immediately put an end to all their struggles, it does provide hope... hope for a future that allows possibilities that otherwise would be impossible. They can start to see the flicker of the light at the end of the tunnel. Even though the tunnel is a long way ahead of them, they have already developed the one skill needed to make it through: perseverance.

Being a college student is a challenging undertaking under the best of circumstances. On top of the responsibility of working many hours to help support their families, Hendrick students are the first in their families to ever go to college so the college culture and environment are new to them. Hendrick provides emotional support through mentoring as well as other educational planning services that help motivate them to stay on track in reaching their goals.

Golf Tournament

Calling all golfers (and all "wanna be" golfers)! Each year the Plano Rotary Club generously hosts a golf tournament to benefit the Hendrick students. This year's tournament will be on September 14, 2010 at the Heritage Ranch Country and Golf Club. If last year's tournament was any indication of the level of devotion of the golfers that come out, you'll want to come to this year's.
